Say a word
I know what I said,
Right at the beginning.
And maybe I shouldn’t have;
I didn’t know if it was the truth you were saying.
Meeting you in person,
I was biting my tongue,
Not to just say “wait, hold on”,
I take it all back, I was wrong.
Never have I felt this way,
Though you probably have…
Nonetheless, I am hoping you would say,
Just a word, and we’ll go back,
Right to the beginning.
Instead of agreeing to be friends,
You could say “Let’s go against the whole world.”;
I would throw everything to the side, and stick with you until it ends.
And who knows…
Maybe the end isn’t right here, right now,
But somewhere in the distant future, after the ups and downs,
Right before facing God, on the life’s death row.
But it’s too late now, isn’t it?
Or maybe not; only our hearts can decide once they see each other again.
Maybe there will be something you will admit,
To which I will smile and say: “Me too, my friend.”.
